We use the classics of Ayurveda, Aṣṭhāñga Hṛdayam and Caraka Samhitā.
All other material has been prepared over the last 15 years by Vaidya Atreya Smith and Alex Duncan during the time they have taught at schools in Bristol, England; Zurich, Switzerland; and the South of France.
Atreya offers his text book on Ayurvedic Nutrition as a primary tool for study that is 300 pages long.
Alex offers six years of teaching notes taking from verbal teaching of Atreya or direct from the classics. See this example of how Alex has edited and presented ṚTUCHARYĀ (seasonal regimes).
Here is another teaser from Atreya on Bālacikitsā (pediatrics).
We hope this helps you see that we are professional and clear in our teachings and that we enjoy the challenge to create new texts and material for our students.
Overall the E-Learning program has more than 1000 A4 size (like Letter) pages of material available to students.
In our Clinical Study Program with Dr Sunil Joshi everything is verbally taught directly from the Caraka Samhitā. He is a dynamic and exceptional teacher whom Atreya’s students from Europe have been enjoying since 2006.
I have heard some criticism about Dr Sunil V. Joshi from some people in the USA. I can only say that my experience is that everything Dr Joshi said he would do or teach he has done or exceeded. I have found him to be honest and trustworthy which is a very difficult thing to find anywhere in the world today. I just a group of students return from Nagpur at the end of December 2010 and they where all very happy with the clinic, staff and Dr Joshi’s teaching.
Update 4 January 2012
I just want to add that we have now organized 7 clinical programs with Dr Joshi and they continue to improve. The student satisfaction level for the last course was 100%. Atreya
