Ayurvedic diet : an individual approach

Ayurveda has always had an individualized approach to nutrition. Fine out how you structure your diet to fit your constitution. One of the fundamental ideas in Ayurveda is that your body is intelligent and seeks health if you support it through good habits. Additionally, health is defined as a dynamic state – not just the absence of disease as in modern medicine. The idea in Ayurvedic nutrition is that health can be increased not just maintained through right lifestyle and diet. Thus, an Ayurvedic diet is an individualized approach that brings a dynamic state of being.

dates for the E-learning

The next E-learning program starts on September the 2nd, 2019

Part One E-learning classes are every MONDAY

Part Two Clinical Study Program with Dr Joshi - 05 to 24 August 2019

Part Three E-learning classes are every second WEDNESDAY from the 4th of September 2019

Dates and times for Part One E-learning Program

This course is limited to 20 students.

The E-learning Part One course has one recorded module lesson and five recorded questions and answer modules every week. The recorded Question & Answer (Q&A) lessons are indexed by questions as this 9 to 10 hours of additional study material for each lesson. Depending on where you live you need to subtract or add hours on to the time to see what time the course will happen in your part of the world for the first live orientation class. CLICK HERE for a world time zone map.

So for California you subtract 8 or 9 hours depending on daylight savings time - look at the map link above.

The first E-learning Part One class starts as a live class on Monday September the 2, 2019. The first lesson is an orientation class on how to use the internet programs (there are three) that make up the classroom. After this the classes with Vaidya Atreya Smith will be given at the same time on every Monday starting the 9th of September 2019 and end the 25th November 2019.

There are no classes in December or January!

Study begins again on the 20 January 2020 and the first Q&A class will be on the 27 January 2020. The Part One E-learning course ends on Monday the 26 May 2020.

The first module has 12 weeks of study (Sept to Nov) and the second module has 17 weeks of study (end of January to end of May). There is a spring break at the last week of March for one week.

Class structure for Part One

1) the course has one recorded session of 1.5 hours per week by Atreya Smith and a second question and answer class (Q&A) on Monday morning at 10 am of 1.5 to 2 hours. All of the Monday sessions are recorded Q&A lessons with Atreya Smith. There are five years of recorded Q&A classes which gives 9 hours of Atreya answering questions for each lesson. These classes are indexed so you can see which questions Atreya is answering in each recording. There are four types of media being used: video - forum live - meetings taught live - plus all recorded material including text (PDF), audio and video. Any class can always be seen as all classes are recorded for the students and are available the whole year.

2) week structure is like this:
- Monday the "class" is opened and there is a recorded lecture to watch - a written PDF lesson to read - written homework to read and then post answers on the forum. Interaction with other students is done through the forum.
- Weekend self study and student interaction - extra audio recordings of Atreya’s teaching can be listened to anytime. There are five recorded Q&A sessions and discussion on the lesson and homework to review.
- Any time after Saturday an on-line quiz needs to be taken to complete the study of the last lesson.
- Sunday finishes subject and Monday begins a new subject (lesson).

3) You need to count on another 3 to 4 hours of individual study time per week. So this means 3 to 3.5 hours of "class" and 3 to 4 hours of homework and quiz, plan 6 to 10 hours per week because some lessons are difficult to understand and need more time. Other lessons are easy and can be done quicker. Also many lessons are 2 hours instead of 1.5 hours with Atreya. These lessons need time to study and absorb.

Part Two Clinical Studies Program in Nagpur, India

05 to 24 August 2019

This program is open to students of other schools if you would like to study with Dr Joshi in Nagpur, India.

Please arrive 2 to 3 days before the starting date.

Dates and times for Part Three E-learning Program

This course is limited to 10 students.

The E-learning Part Three course has one live module and one recorded module every two weeks or 14 day period. The live Question & Answer (Q&A) lesson is on Wednesday at 10 am European time (Paris, Berlin, Madrid). Depending on where you live you need to subtract or add hours on to the CET time to see what time the course will happen in your part of the world. CLICK HERE for a world time zone map.

So for Europe you are in the correct time zone and for California you subtract 8 hours - look at the map link above and remember about daylight savings changes in the time zones. Be careful of Daylight Savings times!

The first E-learning Part Three class starts as a live class on Wednesday September the 4th, 2019. The first lesson is an orientation class on how to use the internet programs (there are three programs) that make up the classroom. After this the live classes with Vaidya Atreya Smith will be given at the same time on every second Wednesday starting the 4th of September and end the 27 November 2019.

There are no classes in most of December or January!

Study begins again on the 22 January 2020 and the first live Q&A class will be on Wednesday the 5th of February 2020. The Part Three E-learning course ends on Wednesday the 25th of June 2020. There are six two week lessons from Sept to Dec and eleven two week lessons from Feb to June; 17 lessons total and 34 weeks of study time needed.

The study lessons in Part Three last two weeks each. One live Q&A class each two weeks. These lessons are more difficult than the Part One and the students need more time for study and homework, that is why there is a two week study period instead of a one week study period as in Part One. This is an advanced clinical study program that teaches you how to treat the cause of the disorder and is limited to 10 students so that there is one to one tutoring.

Class structure for Part Three

1) The course on herbal medicine (Dravyaguna) has one recorded session of 2 hours per two week period and one question and answer class (Q&A) on the second Wednesday morning at 10 am CET of 2 hours. All of the Wednesday sessions are live with Atreya Smith. All sessions are recorded for students and for reference at any time during the course. There are four types of media being used: video - forum live - meetings taught live - plus all recorded material including text (PDF) and video. If any class is missed it can always be seen later as all classes are recorded for the students and are available the whole year.

2) The week structure is like this:
- Wednesday afternoon the "class" is opened and there is a recorded lecture to watch - a written PDF lesson to read - written homework to read and then post Homework answers on the forum.
- Weekend self study and student interaction - post questions for the teacher on forum
- Thirteen days after the class was opened there is a Wednesday morning 10 am CET live Q&A session and discussion on the current lesson and homework as well as the forum posts and any discussions or questions that have come up concerning the lesson.
- Any time after the Wednesday morning class an on-line quiz needs to be taken to complete the study of the last lesson.
- Wednesday finishes subject and Wednesday evening begins new subject - this is a 13 day cycle of study.

3) You need to count on another 10 to 12 hours of individual study time per two week period. So this means 4 hours of "class" and 10 to 12 hours of homework and quiz, plan 14 to 16 hours per two week period because some lessons are difficult to understand and need more time. All lessons are around 2 hours.
